Hard Rock Mining Using Disk Tools Supported by High-Pressure Water Jets in the Aspect of Reducing Energy Consumption

The mining of hard rocks by mechanical methods, using cutting tools, is associated with problems such as sparking, dust generation and increased wear. application disk tools allows limiting these but requires constructing a machine large dimensions weight. To limit problems, high-pressure water jets can be applied. article presents the effects this solution in field stand tests when symmetrical disk. results bench to support process disks, carried out at AGH University Science Technology, performed on unique test stand, which enabled samples mined circular trajectory conditions similar real ones, are presented. With use dimensional analysis, theoretical-empirical model was developed estimate impact slots cut tool load amount output function spacing depth. Considering similarity criteria for rock sample (mechanical properties), it possible, model, most advantageous working parameters while hydromechanical uses disks larger radius.
